Start the morning with an invigorating walk along the Rainforest Gallery, a 17m high, 40m long aerial walkway surrounded by 60m tall mountain ash trees up to three centuries old. From the carpark, descend a staircase to the Rainforest Walkway and fill your lungs with the fresh air provided by the evergreen myrtle beech tree, native to Australia, and take in the vista of Cement Creek’s cascading waters.
Head back to quaint Warburton for a fresh, locally-sourced breakfast and a two kilometer long walk along the Yarra River teeming with fauna such as native birds and ducks. Warburton is an attractive town on the Yarra River, nestled in a valley between heavily forested mountains en route to Mount Donna Buang. Along the way, visit the town center and pass river crossings including the iconic swingbridge in Story Reserve. Recharge for the next stage of your day on the 30-minute drive facilitated by one of ACMTour’s professional drivers who can easily navigate the terrain.
Once leaving Warburton, enjoy Australia’s
flora and fauna at its best in the world-renowned Healesville Sanctuary which showcases over 200 species of Australian wildlife, featuring unique experiences with kangaroos, koalas and amazing birds of prey. You can even check on the recovery of animals being cared for at the Australian Wildlife Health Centre.
After leaving the Sanctuary, visit the TarraWarra Museum of Art, the first privately funded, public art museum in Australia. Lastly, reflect on your day’s adventure while enjoying a wine tasting in the Yarra Valley.
