Little Penguins of Philip Island – Afternoon Experience

Southern Australia is a special part of the world—one of the last inhabitable places before the South Pole. The bustling metropolis of Melbourne showcases the best of modern Australia, while nearby rocky coastlines and vast forests preserve the untamed spirit of a country filled with unique flora and fauna. See the best of the big city, national parks, and native wildlife on ACMT’s intimate group tour: Little Penguins of Phillip Island – Afternoon Experience.
Tours begin with curbside pick-up in one of ACMT’s luxury vehicles. From there, our knowledgeable guides will provide you with a driving tour of Australia’s most European city of Melbourne, a centre for the arts, commerce, entertainment, and sport. Get to know the city’s history amongst the winding alleyways and beautiful architecture while touring in style and comfort.
After enjoying the city sights, appreciate the beauty of small-town life as you head along the Port Phillip Bay coastline. Pass through, sleepy fishing villages and charming farmland, before arriving at the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory for a special treat. When you’ve had your fill of Panny’s fine chocolates, the tour will continue at the Koala Conservation Centre, one of the few areas in Australia where koalas can be seen in their natural habitat. Here you’ll have the opportunity to walk through the treetops on reserve bush land and spot wild koalas and other native animals close up.
As we venture further onto the island taking in the picturesque views, the Australian Fur Seal colony is awaiting our arrival at the Nobbies and Seal Rocks, located on the western tip of Phillip Island. From the perfect vantage point the “Brown Fur Seals” can be seen mothering their pups and laying on the rocks enjoying the Australian sunshine.
Cap off the day’s experiences with Phillip Island’s wondrous Penguin Parade. Witness the odyssey of the famous “little penguins” that emerge from the sea each day at dusk to return to their nests in the sand. You’ll have a front-row seat to a rare wildlife show as hundreds of these miniature blue-and-white penguins waddle across the beach to make their way home. Walking the boardwalk after the parade gets you with in meters of these amazing creatures.
Reflect upon the day’s events over dinner at one of the Island Cafe restaurants before returning to Melbourne. In the summer time we will dine before the Penguin Parade as the cute little creatures only come out to play as the sun goes down.
